The living room and dining room share one space under old beams, a stone fireplace at one end and the long table at the other. Tall windows run down one side, holding the peaks in view while you cook and eat, and a mezzanine looks down over it all. Each of the five bedrooms has its own bathroom, most set as a king-size double or twin to suit the group. Raclette and fondue kit in the drawer, for the nights in.

A heated indoor pool with jets and a hammam, private to the chalet, wait for the legs at the end of the day. The kitchen is modern in wood and steel, ceramic hobs, a full run of appliances, a Nespresso machine. A garage keeps the cars off the snow, and a ski locker and boot warmers sit by the door. Skis are fitted here rather than in a queue at a shop, ready for the morning.

The Bellevarde piste is the doorstep, 300 kilometres of the Espace Killy beyond it. The centre of Val d'Isère is a few steps down when the skiing's done: the shops, the restaurants, the après-ski. Premium brings a concierge, a butler who makes breakfast, and a driver in the village. Prestige adds a private chef for five dinners and a driver into the evening. Winter runs Sunday to Sunday, late November to early May, open again in July and August.
