Es Figueral: a long sandy beach facing Tagomago

Oct 9, 2026Author: One of a Kind Travel2 min

Four hundred metres of sand on the north-east coast, with a naturist end and a coast path running north from it.

Es Figueral sits on the north-east coast in the parish of San Carlos, a few minutes from the village. The official figures put it at about 410 metres long and 45 wide, which makes it one of the larger beaches on this side of the island, and the sand is soft and gold with a sandy seabed under it.

The water shelves gently and stays shallow a good way out, and the private island of Tagomago sits on the horizon to the south.

What is there

Sunbeds and parasols, lifeguards, and two restaurants on the beach with more along the access road. Behind them are shops, a small supermarket and a medical centre. Watersports run from the sand: pedalos, paddleboards, kayaks and windsurfing, with a sailing club on site.

The showers may not be working. They have been switched off under water-conservation measures, so do not count on rinsing off.

The two ends

A rocky outcrop divides the beach. The southern half is the serviced one with the restaurants behind it. The northern end is an unserviced naturist section, which is worth knowing before you walk up it with children.

Walking from here

A coastal path runs five kilometres north to Aigues Blanques, along low cliffs with coves below. It is one of the better short coast walks on the island and it is flat enough for most people.
