Away from the bars, San Antonio keeps its older layers close by. The parish church at its centre was first built in the fourteenth century and fortified against pirate raids not long after, making it the second-oldest church on the island. Sa Punta des Molí, a restored headland with an old windmill, olive press and a scattering of traditional houses, sits a short walk from the harbour and gives a clearer idea of what the town looked like before tourism arrived. The Huevo de Colón, a large egg-shaped sculpture on the seafront marking five hundred years since Columbus reached America, has become an unlikely local meeting point in its own right.
