Figueretas: the town beach you can walk to

Ibiza Town's own beach, ten minutes on foot from the centre, with a palm promenade behind it.

Figueretas is the only urban beach in Ibiza Town, about ten minutes on foot from the centre. It is small, roughly a hundred metres by fifty, broken into pockets by rock groynes, with golden sand and shallow sheltered water.

Nobody would drive across the island for it. The point is that you do not have to.

What is there

Sunbeds and parasols, massage, lifeguards and showers, plus a drinking-water refill point. Restaurants, bars and shops run along the front. A palm-lined promenade and wooden boardwalk run behind the sand, with play areas and an outdoor gym on it.

Access for disabled visitors is good by island standards, with an amphibious wheelchair and an adapted bathing area.

Two things people do not expect

It is a designated non-smoking beach.

There is no car park. Parking is on-street, paid, in the surrounding blue zone, and in summer it is close to hopeless. Walk, or take the bus.

Getting elsewhere from here

Water taxis and ferries run from the jetties to Ibiza Town, Playa d'en Bossa and Formentera, which makes this a useful starting point rather than only a destination.

The northern end has a small quieter bay with no lifeguard and no facilities.
