Kumharas: a market, a stage and a sunset

Oct 9, 2026Author: One of a Kind Travel2 min

A bohemian sunset venue on the bay with craft stalls, live music and fire shows, and no door charge.

Kumharas sits on the western shore of San Antonio bay at Cala de Bou, and it is the surviving piece of the island's older, scruffier sunset culture. There is a garden of low tables, a stage, a run of craft stalls, and the water directly in front.

Entry is free, which separates it from most of what happens on this coast at that hour.

What happens there

Live music most nights in season, fire shows after dark, and an artisan market among the tables selling the sort of thing the hippy markets sell. Food is served, though it is not the reason to come.

The crowd is mixed in a way the sunset strip is not: families early, a younger crowd later, and people who have been coming for twenty years throughout.

When it is open

Seasonal. The 2026 season opened on 21 March, from late afternoon, and it closes for the winter. Evenings rather than days.

Getting there

It is on the Sant Josep side of the bay, not in San Antonio town, so it is a walk from Cala de Bou and a taxi from the West End. That distance is part of why it feels different.
