Las Puertas del Cielo sits on the clifftop at Sa Penya Esbarrada, above Santa Agnes de Corona in the north-west, looking down at the Ses Margalides islets. The name means the gates of heaven and for once the view earns it.
The Can Jordi family run it, and the food is Ibizan country cooking rather than anything built for the view: rice dishes, baked fish, roast meat and fried octopus.
Getting there
A narrow single-track lane runs off the Santa Agnes road through pine forest to the cliff. It is slow rather than difficult, and there is nothing else along it.
Coming up from San Antonio takes about twenty minutes.
When to come
It is open all year, and closed on Mondays. In winter the kitchen runs lunchtimes only. In summer it adds an evening sitting, and the bar stays open for the sunset either way.
The listings do not always agree on the evening hours, so check before making the drive for dinner. Our team can confirm it.
Calcots appear at weekends in season, which is worth timing a visit around.
Combining it with a walk
The cliff here is the end of the Santa Agnes walking country, and the path down to Ses Balandres starts nearby. A morning on the cliffs and lunch here is one of the better days on the island out of season.
