Shopping in Ibiza Town: boutiques, Adlib and markets

Boutiques in La Marina, Adlib fashion on Vara de Rey, brands at the marinas and an evening market on the port: where to shop in Ibiza Town.

Ibiza Town has four shopping areas within a fifteen-minute walk of each other. The small boutiques are in the old streets of La Marina and Dalt Vila around the port, and the chain shops and Adlib fashion houses are on Vara de Rey and the avenues behind it. Across the harbour the two marinas hold the international brands, and from April to October an evening market runs along the old port.

Most shops open in the morning and again from around five, and in summer the ones around the port stay open until 22:00 or later. Our team has grouped the shops by area, and we have only kept the ones we know are still trading, so you can plan a morning or an evening around them.

La Marina and the old port

Where: The narrow streets between the harbour front and the walls of Dalt Vila, running into Sa Penya at the eastern end.

Expect: Small independent boutiques selling summer dresses, sandals, jewellery and beachwear, with souvenir shops and bars in between. Carrer de la Mare de Déu, also signed as Carrer de la Verge, is the long street that threads through Sa Penya, and in summer about 20 stands with jewellery and accessories set up around Plaça d'Antoni Riquer.

Good to know: The summer opening hours are longest here. Many shops trade until 22:00 in July and August and some until midnight, and a good number stay open through the winter when the coast has closed.

The evening market on the port

Where: Along the harbour promenade of the old port.

Expect: The Mercat des Port has run since 1974 and sets up every evening from April to October, with stalls opening from about 17:00. It sells handmade jewellery, leather, bags and the white Ibiza dresses you see everywhere on the island. From mid-August to mid-September an artisans' fair joins it along the same promenade.

Good to know: It is the closest thing to a hippy market inside the town. For the big Saturday and Wednesday markets in the north and east, our guide to the hippy markets in Ibiza covers which day is which.

Dalt Vila and the Mercat Vell

Where: The walled old town above the port, entered through the Portal de ses Taules drawbridge, and the square directly below it.

Expect: Inside the walls the shops are few and spread out along the climb: small studios and boutiques with handmade shoes, sunglasses, ceramics and clothing made on the island. At the foot of the drawbridge, on Plaça de la Constitució, the Mercat Vell has sold fruit, vegetables and flowers from the same building since 1872. It runs Monday to Saturday from 07:00 until 14:00.

Good to know: The Dalt Vila site of the archaeological museum is closed for building works, so the climb is for the views and the shops rather than the museum. Our guide to Ibiza Town covers the old town beyond the shops.

Vara de Rey and the new town

Where: The pedestrian promenade of Passeig de Vara de Rey, with Plaça del Parc beside it and Avinguda de Bartomeu Rosselló and Avinguda d'Isidor Macabich behind.

Expect: The recognisable chains are here, along Bartomeu Rosselló and Isidor Macabich, and so are the island's own fashion names. Adlib is Ibiza's white cotton and lace style, launched in the early 1970s and still made here by a group of around 30 designers. Charo Ruiz, the best-known of them, has her flagship on Avinguda de Bartomeu Ramon i Tur, a short walk from Vara de Rey. Elisa Pomar has made the traditional Ibizan emprendada jewellery since 1852 and moved from La Marina in 2025. Her two shops are now at the Vara de Rey end of Carrer del Comte de Rosselló, one of them for silver only.

Good to know: Vara de Rey was pedestrianised in 2017 and is lined with pavement cafés. The chains keep longer hours in summer, generally 10:00 to 22:00 from June to September, while the smaller boutiques still close in the middle of the afternoon.

Marina Ibiza and Marina Botafoch

Where: Across the harbour from the old town along Passeig de Joan Carles I, twenty minutes on foot or a few minutes by boat taxi from the old harbour.

Expect: The two marinas sit side by side and hold the international fashion houses. Louis Vuitton trades at Marina Ibiza on Passeig de Joan Carles I and Saint Laurent opened a store on the same stretch. The boutiques between them sell summer clothes, swimwear and jewellery to the yachts moored outside.

Good to know: The marina shops open late into the evening in summer and the area is at its liveliest after nine. Outside the season several of the brand stores close or shorten their hours, so if one shop is the point of the trip, a quick check with our team saves the walk round.

Talamanca: Hippy Chick

Where: Carrer de ses Figueres in Talamanca, behind the beach on the far side of the marinas, about fifteen minutes on foot from the port or by boat taxi.

Expect: Hippy Chick Ibiza is the island's own bohemian label: kaftans, embroidered dresses and kimonos in the loose Ibiza style, plus a vintage rail. It is often listed in Dalt Vila, but its one boutique is here in Talamanca.

Good to know: It keeps the traditional split day, open in the morning and again from late afternoon, seven days a week in season.

Quick answers

When do shops in Ibiza Town open? Most independent shops open around 10:00, close from about 13:30 to 17:00 and reopen until 20:00 or 21:00. In summer the port shops and the chains on Vara de Rey run until 22:00, and some in La Marina stay open until midnight.

Are the shops open on Sunday? In July and August most of the port and marina shops open seven days a week. Outside high season many shops close on Sunday, with souvenir shops the usual exception.

Where is the evening market? Along the old port promenade, every evening from April to October, from about 17:00.

Where can I buy Adlib fashion? Around Vara de Rey, where Charo Ruiz and Elisa Pomar have their shops, and at the smaller boutiques in La Marina.

Where do I park? The free car park at Es Gorg, on the edge of town, has more than 900 spaces and a shuttle bus into the centre in summer. Es Pratet, next to the port, is the closest paid car park to La Marina. Street parking in the centre is blue zone, Monday to Saturday.

Planning the day

The town shops best in two halves: the Mercat Vell and Vara de Rey in the morning while the small shops are open, then La Marina and the port market after dinner. The marinas and Talamanca fit a separate afternoon, ideally by boat taxi.
