Ibiza is easier for vegans than most Mediterranean islands, partly because so much of the food culture is vegetable-led and partly because the wellness industry arrived here early. The useful distinction is between the kitchens that are entirely plant-based and the ordinary restaurants that happen to do it well, so we have set them out that way.
Every place below has been checked as trading. Hours on Ibiza move with the season, so our team will confirm for the week you are here.
Fully plant-based
Wild Beets in Santa Gertrudis is the best known: entirely plant-based, with raw dishes alongside cooked ones and gluten-free throughout. The catch is the hours. It serves from nine in the morning until six in the evening and then closes, so it is breakfast and lunch rather than dinner.
Simbiosis on Carrer de Jaume I in Ibiza Town, near the old town wall, is the island's original vegetarian restaurant and has been running since the 1990s. The menu moves between Mediterranean, Asian, Indian and Mexican, with raw and macrobiotic dishes on it. Listings disagree on its days, so it is worth checking before you walk over.
Sabores Naturales in San Juan village, in the north, is fully vegetarian with vegan options and has been going since 2002. Home-made pizzas and sandwiches on organic bread, lunch and dinner. It also trades under the name Om Sweet Om, which causes some confusion online.
Kitchens that do it well without being vegan
Passion Café is the one you will keep passing, with sites at the Marina and Vara de Rey, Botafoch and Playa d'en Bossa, Santa Eulalia and San Antonio. It is a health café rather than a vegan one, serving chicken and fish alongside a large plant-based menu, and it runs all day from breakfast.
La Paloma at San Lorenzo grows its own vegetables and herbs, and the daytime menu leans Middle Eastern with falafel and hummus. It is an omnivore restaurant with meat on the menu, and the vegetables are the reason to go.
Juntos House at San Mateo is farm-to-table from its own regenerative land, vegetable-forward rather than vegetarian. Booking is essential and the days are limited, so this is a plan rather than a drop-in.
Chidas on Plaza Pintor Vicent Calbet in Ibiza Town is Mexican and evenings only, with a real vegan section: oyster-mushroom tacos, roasted celeriac and an Ibizan-style pizza with vegan cheese.
Shopping for yourself
Biorganic on Avenida España in Ibiza Town is an organic shop with a juice and sandwich counter, open Monday to Saturday. With a house and a kitchen it is the most practical answer of all, and the Saturday market at San Jose and Forada both carry organic produce.
