Porroig is a headland and a bay on the south coast, in the municipality of San Jose, about eight kilometres from San Jose village. It is not a village and nothing has been built for visitors: a crescent of fine gravel, a row of fishermen's boathouses along the shore, and large private houses on the slopes above.
What it has instead is water. The bay is exceptionally sheltered, the anchorage is one of the best on the island, and the clarity makes it a good place to swim and snorkel.
What is around it
Es Torrent sits on the bay: a sandy beach with a beach service and a long-standing seafood restaurant, plus a small jetty with a seasonal water taxi to San Antonio. Es Cuco is the next cove north.
In the parking area there is a ruined telegraph hut, the remains of the station that once landed the submarine cable between Ibiza and the mainland.
Where you would stay

There is no accommodation in Porroig itself beyond private houses. Es Cubells on the clifftop is the closest village and it is tiny, amounting to a church, a car park and a couple of bars, one of them Bar Llumbi.
The stretch of coast from here to Es Cubells is the most expensive property on Ibiza, which is the other thing Porroig is known for.
