Shopping on Ibiza splits cleanly into four things, and knowing which you want saves a day of driving. There are the hippy markets, the boutiques in and below the old town, the inland village squares, and the food producers. We have set them out in that order.
The markets
Las Dalias at San Carlos on a Saturday is the biggest and the best, with a night market on summer evenings as well.
Punta Arabi at Es Canar on a Wednesday is the oldest, running since 1973, and the largest by stall count.
San Jordi on a Saturday morning is the flea market, which is a different exercise altogether: second-hand clothes and records, tools, junk and the occasional find.
The full picture is in our guide to the hippy markets.
Ibiza Town

The streets below Dalt Vila and the lanes of the old town hold the island's boutiques, from the original Adlib designers to imported labels. This is where the money is, and it is walkable in an afternoon.
Our guide to shopping in Ibiza Town covers the streets in order.
The village squares
Santa Gertrudis is the best of them: galleries, homeware, clothing and a couple of good bookshops around a square you can park near, in the middle of the island.
San Juan on a Sunday has a small farmers' and craft market. San Carlos has the Las Dalias site and the village around it.
These are quieter and cheaper than the town, and the stock is more likely to have been made on the island.
What to take home

Hierbas ibicencas, the green herb liqueur, which every bar and most supermarkets sell.
Olive oil, particularly from the producers inland: the oleoteca at Ses Escoles sells its own.
Salt from the pans at Las Salinas, still harvested and still shipped from Sa Canal.
Adlib clothing, the island's own white loose-cut tradition, which is a real design history rather than a souvenir.
